History

On October 15, 1915, the current Aude Schúele was first used as a school. It was built as a school for an association called "For the establishment and maintenance of a school with the Bible in Schiermonnikoog". The school consisted of 2 classrooms and two teachers were appointed. At that time, there were approximately 30 children on the island who went to the new school. Years of fundraising preceded this and Ds. H. Hasper, who had been working on the island as a minister since 1912, played a major role in this. On the occasion of the school's 50th anniversary in 1965, the school was given the name Ds. Hasperschool.

In 1973 the new school building at the F.H. Gasaustraat was taken into use. This means that De Aude Schúele functioned as a school building until that date. There are several older islanders who still have memories of their school days at the school on Badweg.

De Aude Schúele was later owned by various owners; a contractor who used the building to store his materials but also housed his employees there and an owner who had plans to house a small-scale home on an anthroposophical basis until it was given its current destination as a holiday home for small groups in 1984.
